Our History
The Orange Motel: A Legacy of Warmth and Hospitality nestled in the heart of Minneola and Clermont, Florida.
Our story began in 1957, when the founders opened a humble 9-room motel that quickly became a notable landmark along US-27, serving generations of travelers alongside local favorites like the Skyline Motel and Clermont Motor Lodge,
Over the decades, the motel changed hands but its legacy continued. In 1991, our family, Jamaican immigrants who settled in New York and later became American citizens, took over. Seeking a climate reminiscent of our homeland, captivated by the rolling hills of Minneola-Clermont, reminiscent our homeland, and found our new home—and a purpose—in the Orange Motel.
We didn't just manage the motel; we transformed it. We turned a neglected plot of land and dumping ground into a flourishing tropical garden, a testament to our dedication and love for the property. The motel also became a community hub; it served as the birthplace of the Caribbean American Association of Lake County (CAALC), which was founded 21 years ago with just 5 members right here at the Orange Motel. While other local motels faded as the area developed, we held on, committed to preserving this piece of history and keeping it in our family for generations. You can find an old picture of the motel displayed in every Walgreens in Minneola-Clermont on the Pharmacy wall.
For the past 34 years, we have poured our hearts into providing a warm and welcoming experience for every guest. The Orange Motel isn't just a place to stay, it's one of the last historic buildings left in the area and a testament to a rich and enduring history.
